Choosing a Wedding Photographer

This is one of the most important decisions you will make. After the day has ended all that is left is your spouse, your pictures and your videos.

1) Ask family and friends

The best starting point is a recommendation from a family member or friend. It is even better if you were at that wedding and remember how the photographer interacted with guests.

The wedding photographer not only needs to take great pictures but interact with all of the guests and make them feel comfortable when taking their pictures.

2) Examine the photographers collection of past 'WEDDING' albums. It is a very different skill and creativeness required to take excellent pictures of scenery and sunsets compared to wedding moments. You want to find photographers that excel in capturing wedding moments, you can cherish.

3) How many photographers will be working at your wedding?

If you would like pictures of the groom getting ready as well as pictures of the bride getting ready, will this be possible with two photographers? If not, you can still stagger the time that each get ready in order for it to be photographed, but timing may be an issue as wedding ceremonies are usually early in the morning.

4) Will the photography be done using film cameras or digital cameras?

Most people these days prefer Digital because more shots are usually taken and the photographer can assess if the picture needs to be retaken on the spot. There still are some who prefer film cameras for that slight crispness of the photograph.

5) Will the photographs be provided to the bride and groom without any water marks or copyright stamps when the wedding is completed?

Some photographers will watermark their photographs and then provide them to you. This means you would not be able to go to the store on your own and make copies of the pictures without it having the photographers branding. It is worth it to work into the contract to receive all pictures on a disc unbranded, even if it costs a bit more.
